Gibraltar is situated at the southern end of the Iberian Península.
It is strategically positioned at the western end of the Mediterranean and it is surrounded by two countries: Spain and Morocco, which is 24 kilometres away, on the opposite side of the strait.
The official language is English although Spanish is widely spoken.
Regular flights from the UK to Gibraltar are operated by British Airways, Fly Gibraltar and Monarch and the flight time is approximately two hours and 30 minutes.Gibraltar is also accesible by those who fly to Málaga, one hour and 30 minutes by road.
The land frontier between Spain and Gibraltar is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week both for vehicles and pedestrians.
A full valid passport or EU identity card in the case of EU nationals are a requisite to enter Gibraltar.
The legal tender in Gibraltar is Gibraltar Government Sterling notes and coinage, although United Kingdom sterling is equally welcome.
The climate of Gibraltar is Mediterranean, a warm, dry summer alternating with a mild wet winter.
